Force Reserve
Admin users have the ability to Force Reserve an order that is in a Needs Action: Insufficient Inventory state. This feature gives you control over which orders should take priority and ship first.
When an order is force reserved, it is moved to the front of the reservation line, shifting all other orders down in priority—similar to someone cutting in line. The system will then redistribute inventory based on this new order of priority. This means the inventory may be pulled from other orders, particularly the one that had just enough to reserve last, which may become partially or fully unreserved.
Only one order can be Force Reserved at a time. The functionality cannot be applied to multiple orders simultaneously. Each Force Reserve action must be completed and processed before another can be initiated.
Force Reserve pulls inventory from other orders that are either in the Action Center or in Queued Publishing under Open Orders. It does not affect orders that have already been sent to the warehouse. It’s important to note that you won’t see exactly which order(s) are affected by this shift.
Additionally, Force Reserve does not override actual inventory levels—if no inventory is available, the order will remain unreserved. Because of its impact, this feature should be used intentionally and with caution.
