Maine Bottle Bill Compliance Update
Starting July 1, 2025, all wine bottles shipped DTC to Maine must comply with the state’s Bottle Bill labeling requirements. This means every bottle must display a label indicating the 15¢ refundable deposit, as part of Maine’s beverage container redemption program.
Key Points:
The new law applies to DTC wine shipments to Maine.
Each bottle must have a label or sticker clearly showing the 15¢ deposit and “Maine” or “ME.”
The licensed DTC shipping winery is responsible for compliance as the Initiator of Deposit (IOD) and must obtain sticker approval
Label registration with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection is required
