Each carrier has a different process that Wineshipping uses to redirect a package.

UPS: Wineshipping is connected to UPS redirect API. This allows us to send redirects directly into their system. It will still take time for their system to register the request and submit the new information appropriately. Since we are connected to the API we can access the status of the redirect (accepted or rejected)

FedEx/GLS: Redirects processed for these carriers will auto generate an email with the information that is sent to the carrier. Service@wineshipping.com is cc'd on the emails sent to the carrier to see any responses the carrier may send, however, those responses are not monitored. Due to this behavior, Wineshipping is unable to see if the redirect has been accepted or rejected. As a result, the status of the redirect will stay "Sent to Carrier".

Redirects to FedEx pickup locations are processed via API and will behave like UPS redirects, with status updates available

Best practice: Always check the tracking numbers to identify if the redirect requested is visible in the carrier scans.

Lastly, if you utilize Premium Tracking's branded tracking page you can enable a redirect option directly on the page. This will allow the recipient to redirect their package directly with the carrier. The costs of redirects are reduced and the likelihood of acceptance is increased by the carrier if the end customer is requesting the change.
