How it works
1. Merchant connects Shopify to Wineshipping
The merchant installs and authorizes the Wineshipping Shopify app. Once connected, the app can securely communicate with Shopify and Wineshipping systems.
2. Shopify orders are captured
The integration retrieves Shopify order information, including customer details, shipping address, order lines, taxes, shipping methods, tags, and fulfillment status.
3. Orders flow into Wineshipping fulfillment
Order data is made available to Wineshipping so orders can be processed through the fulfillment workflow.
4. Fulfillment updates are sent back to Shopify
When Wineshipping fulfills an order, the integration updates Shopify with fulfillment status, tracking numbers, tracking URLs, and carrier information.
5. Inventory is synchronized
Inventory levels from Wineshipping can be reflected in Shopify, helping merchants avoid overselling and maintain accurate product availability.
6. Customers get shipment visibility
Tracking and delivery estimate information can be shown through Shopify customer-facing experiences, helping customers understand where their shipment is and when it may arrive.
Main capabilities
Order synchronization
The integration retrieves Shopify orders and prepares them for Wineshipping fulfillment. It supports batch processing and pagination so larger volumes of orders and larger orders with many line items can be handled reliably.
Fulfillment and tracking updates
The integration can create or update Shopify fulfillments with tracking numbers, carrier details, and tracking URLs. It can also support split fulfillment scenarios where an order may have more than one shipment or tracking number.
Inventory synchronization
The integration maps Shopify SKUs and inventory items so inventory quantities can be updated in Shopify. It can support location-based inventory and Future Reservation logic to maintain safety stock.
Multiple Location Support
If you leverage more than one Wineshipping Warehouse - you can map distinct Shopify Locations to each one, this allows you to use Shopify routing features to streamline fulfillment location assignment.
Order Tag Support
Using Order Tags and Shopify Flow allows you to accomplish a wide rage of use cases:
Setting Order Type (i.e. for Club Orders)
Holding Orders
Adding Collateral, Top Mats, or other SKUs
Gift Note Support
Gift Notes (either for packing slip messages or premium gift cards) can be supported using either Order Notes or Order Metadata fields.
Requested Ship Date Support
Sending a Requested Ship Date with your Orders is supported using either Tags or Metadata fields.
Monitoring and background processing
The integration uses background processing, logging, telemetry, and retry logic to support reliable operation and easier troubleshooting.
